Car-free Leeds meet up

Sept 22nd is European Car Free Day.

To celebrate, Living Streets Leeds would like anyone interested in helping Leeds to be less car dependent to come along and share theirideas. People who wish to share their experiences of trying to travel without a car in the city are also welcome.

As a result of this meeting the aim is to create momentum for regular car free events across Leeds.

Jonathon Porritt: The World We Made - a vision of a positive future

Jonathan Bartley: Working for the peace of the city

Jonathan Bartley, current co-leader of the Green Party of England and Wales, gives the annual Hook Lecture talking about cities, the environment and hope for the future.

The Hook Lecture is an annual event, which aims to stimulate debate around an issue of faith in the context of the city, shaping discussion and dialogue throughout the coming year. High profile speakers launch the conversation, drawing different communities together in Leeds Minster. The event is organised jointly by LCI, Leeds Minster and Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Leeds.

Build a low cost wind turbine

Two separate one day workshops (10.00-17.00 Saturday and Sunday 1 & 2 September) led by Daniel Connell, renewable energy and open source technology designer. 
The workshops will demonstrate how to build a simple, low cost vertical axis wind turbine using £20-30 worth of easily sourced local recycled materials and basic hand tools. No previous experience is necessary.
