A University of Leeds public engagement event on 7 May has provided an opportunity for researchers to understand how children and adults view climate solutions.

Members of the team from Leeds Climate Commission joined University of Leeds colleagues for Be Curious, the University’s annual research open event, which showcases how research at Leeds is making a difference to people’s lives.

An ambitious five-year community project, Climate Action Leeds, launches on Monday (11 October) with a week of events to help empower ordinary people to tackle the climate emergency.

The project, which was awarded funding from the National Lottery, is bringing together communities and organisations in a city-wide effort to transform Leeds to be zero carbon, nature friendly and socially just by the 2030s.

As the UK looks forward to hosting the world’s largest climate change conference, COP26, later this year in Glasgow, Leeds will be hosting a climate summit of its own.

Leeds' sister Commission, the Yorkshire and Humber Climate Commission has announced that it is partnering with the Yorkshire Post for the one-day event on 10 November. The  venue for the hybrid event has been confirmed as the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds.

Leeds Civic Trust is hosting a Competition of Ideas encouraging citizens to put forward their ideas about how the bus services in Leeds can be improved to become excellent.

The Trust wants people to think beyond the usual constraints that shape Leeds’ bus service today – tight budgets, often expensive and confusing fares, congestion and delays, a lack of integration between services - and suggest how better public transport can improve the quality of their daily life.
